The End of a New Beginning
Created by
The dawn of a new era. The evolution of creativity. Welcome to the inaugural statement in my quest for freedom of expression. For I am one, connected to all, I express, in ‘The End Of A New Beginning’, the revelations of connecting to myself.
'The Burnout', 'Marked For Death' & 'Resurrection' are works conceptualised in a chronological relationship to each other. Realisations of my being, yet stories for all, as the themes herein are highly personal yet may be familiar to anyone at all.
A triad of milestones have been captured and transmuted into eternal existence. For when one creates, one may be conscious of the manifesting of the cerebral. Artists, in a way, give birth to an object of expression, the subjective becomes matter. Yet it remains a never-ending process. Art lives, so I choose to approach it in a state of heightened awareness.
In life we identify certain patterns and behaviors that can have serious consequences. At 24, I reached my second burnout. I was drenched in workaholism, a new form of old addiction. I needed healing and, of course, that started with acceptance. Long story short, I burned out my burnout.
Love and death are the other two themes I portray. Dealing with Parkinsons and Dystrophia is a perpetual challenge to my state of mind. Death is around the corner at any given moment. It is an inconceivably mind-altering event to be confronted with a drastically shortened life expectancy. And so 'Marked For Death' came to be. Exploring the path of life until the inevitable outcome manifests itself.
To be able to keep on living, and actually quite possibly heal myself, requires a healthy mentality. Love for oneself is essential, as the daily pains and routine are challenging. Deepening the connection to myself allowed the most beautiful person to come into my life and share it.
Through the creative process of 'The Burnout' and 'Marked For Death' I began living again. While living again, I discovered the love of my life. She was right there, ready to be found, I had known her for years, but I was blind.
By finding her, I was found too. And so, on one particular night, we realised that two became one. ‘Resurrection’ represents that realisation and unity.

Jazz Dijk
Jazz is a versatile Dutch artist and musician who can’t be bound by rules or the mechanics of mandatory thinking. Looking to compose colours on his piano and paint notes of love, he is gifted with a great curiousity when it comes to all forms of creation and expression. Therefore he can’t and won’t be restricted by any specific style.
That said, Jazz has a continuous conscious approach to the transmutation of his life into art. In his own words, "Art lives, so I choose to approach it in a state of heightened awareness".
Jazz, a young man in his early twenties, has claimed victory over great battles many will never have to fight. Through his most recent and ongoing burden, Parkinsons, he has been challenged to develope flexible ways to articulate his life, which is essential to his well-being.
Surviving an abusive childhood, being bullied and forced to fight, the beginning of Jazz’s life is what enabled the urge to process and face troubles and challenges by the means of expression. The tourments of this childhood led to addiction, and eventually homelessness. Despite the situation, losing hope and himself, the urge to create never left his side. We could say that this is what brought him home and became the pillar to his existence.
