Neo-Noir Cycle is a collection by Empress Trash for her Makersplace Artist in Residency combining AI + Glitch processes to interpret traditional female archetypes in an expression of the multifaceted power of light and dark feminine energy. The seven archetypes explored: The Maiden, The Lover, The Mother, The Huntress, The Mystic, The Queen, and The Crone

As MakersPlace’s first official Artist in Residence Drop, one work from the Neo-Noir Cycle series will be released every Tuesday, beginning on August 8, 2023. All 7 of the 1/1 works will be offered in an auction format with reserves of 0.333 ETH each and minted on the creator’s own Manifold contract. For the duration of the residency, these will be the only new works by Empress Trash released on the ETH blockchain.

A feminine archetype cycle represents a universal and symbolic blueprint of essential qualities and traits traditionally associated with femininity. It centers around the journey and development of a female character, often symbolizing aspects of femininity, womanhood, and the natural world. It emphasizes the cyclical nature of life, growth, and renewal. It transcends cultural and historical boundaries, embodying deep-rooted aspects of womanhood that evoke emotions, behaviors, and ideals commonly attributed to feminine energy. These archetypes serve as powerful and timeless symbols, influencing narratives, art, and cultural perceptions of femininity throughout the ages.

This is similar but differs from the hero cycle, also known as the hero's journey as popularized by Joseph Campbell, which usually follows the adventures of a central male character who sets forth on a quest or mission. As he is called to adventure, he crosses the threshold into the unknown, facing trials and challenges that test his resilience and character. Once the journey is complete, the hero returns to his ordinary world, enriched with newfound gifts and experiences, ready to use them for the betterment of his community and the world at large.

In essence, both cycles delve into the essence of human experiences, reflecting different aspects of our nature and the diverse roles that make us who we are.
