''[Atlantic City] is a photographer's dream,'' says photographer Bruce Boyajian. ''I've been as close as I've wanted to get to more celebrities than I can think of.''
Boyajian has photographed events in Atlantic City since 1979. His pictures of everything from fires, floods, and ruined amusement piers to emotional Miss Americas and elbow-rubbing celebrities have appeared in newspapers worldwide.
''Liza Minnelli was a doll, absolutely wonderful. Don Rickles is the sweetest guy. Donald Trump said to me, 'You're in my face so much, how come you don't work for me?' Sugar Ray Leonard and Evander Holyfield are true gentlemen. Holyfield invited me down to his house in Atlanta to photograph him working out there.'' Boyajian told the New York Times for a profile in 1996.
Boyajian sees himself in a lineage that stretches back to Al Gold, whose photographs (ca. 1939–1964) are on display at the Atlantic City Historical Museum.
Boyajian told the New York Times, ''There should be a permanent museum here devoted to [Al Gold] and that era. What you get from his pictures isn't just the event but the mood of this city in its golden age.”
But Boyajian found himself photographing celebrities of a different era, celebrities whose mark on history is no less indelible than any captured by Al Gold.
Winning bidder of each photograph will receive an 18x24 print of the photograph signed by the photographer.
