As it often happens in Icelandic mythology, Reynisdrangar’s iconic sea stacks are believed to be trolls, in this case petrified by the Gods for not having been able to complete a mission given to them. Over the years, I longed to photograph the trolls under a stormy and menacing sky, expressing the anger of the Gods.

It took me many trips to Iceland, always in winter, to find the conditions I wanted for this shot. When it finally happened, in February 2020, it really felt like the anger of the Gods was striking down on the petrified trolls, right in front of my eyes.
