ICELANDIC MOODS

ICELANDIC MOODS is a tryptic consisting of three square images created over the years and many trips to Iceland. Icelandic Moods features three different iconic Icelandic locations portrayed under very unique conditions.

First buyer will receive: 18000 x 6000 px ultra-high-resolution file | 3 bonus NFTs | Choice of either tryptic or single images free print(s) upon request

As always, I'll fund the planting of 500 trees with this sale.

Below you'll find the stories of the three works included in the tryptic. From left to right:

1. THE ANGER OF THE GODS

As it often happens in Icelandic mythology, Reynisdrangar’s iconic sea stacks are believed to be trolls, in this case petrified by the Gods for not having been able to complete a mission given to them. Over the years, I longed to photograph the trolls under a stormy and menacing sky, expressing the anger of the Gods.

It took me many trips to Iceland, always in winter, to find the conditions I wanted for this shot. When it finally happened, in February 2020, it really felt like the anger of the Gods was striking down on the petrified trolls, right in front of my eyes.

2. FROZEN WONDERLAND

Iceland’s landscapes have a special, magical quality under the snow and ice, like a frozen wonderland. The iconic falls of Kirkjufellsfoss, with mount Kirkjufell behind them, always felt to me like a land of fairies, and I long envisioned photographing the waterfall and river when frozen under a contrasting, warm sunset sky.

Over the course of three years, I came back many times to Iceland and to Kirkjufellsfoss before I could find the scene as I wanted it. When that happened, in February 2020, a frozen wonderland truly unraveled in front of my eyes.

3. BLUE SYMPHONY

The iconic Diamond Beach at Jokulsarlon is a truly inspiring location, an ever-changing one and one I visited dozens of times over the years and haven’t tired of yet. The incredible, evoking shapes of the ice blocks, their different colors and textures, paired with the truly inspiring Icelandic weather and light, inspired me to go for shades of blue.

After many attempts, on an overcast day in March 2019, when the color of the sky melted with that of the ice, a blue symphony of ice, water and sky was born in front of my eyes.
