This artwork is one of a short series referred as layers, involving horizontal forms, each with unique patterns to solid colours. When viewing, these free-form bands alternate, with variety. It's abstract, however I have randomly placed figurative images of primitive icons, small forms being identifiable. The inspiration came to me from my study in history to anthropology. It is a bit whimsical, which is something that occurs off and on in my art, referring as playful, taming the seriousness of my investigation of the existence of things, and how, where, why they evolve, so it's using my imagination and an interest about cultural development, especially my immersion experiences with Canadian Aboriginal people. The horizontals vary in width, with tonal colour use, rough to graduated edges, thus to provide interest to the viewer.
