I would like to debut the first collaboration of many with my incredibly talented friend and astrophotography wizard, Alan Rios! I had been bugging him for months to send me some photos to use as background spheres and boy did he deliver! I've been urging him to join makersplace, but until then I will be posting our collaborations here and sending him half of the proceeds!

Some notes from Alan about the photo:
Every summer our Milky Way galaxy makes an appearance in the night sky to show off one of its crown jewels, the Lagoon Nebula. Located near the galaxy’s core, this bright emission nebula is 5,000 light years away and 110 x 50 light years in size — well over 1000x bigger than our entire solar system.

It is mostly made up of gases like Hydrogen, which allow it to form new stars and serve as a stellar nursery for the galaxy. Hot temperatures from newly formed and dying stars then continually ionize and recombine the atoms in the nearby gas, thereby producing the amazing colors we see through telescopes!
