Casey Kauffmann (b.1989 San Fernando Valley, CA) is a multidisciplinary artist who is engaged in both physical and digital practice. Her current work consists of drawings, iphone collages, social media performance and installations which all rely on a process of recontextualization. By filtering representations of women, predominantly authored by men through her own perspective, she translates and amends her uncomfortable relationships to these images. The humor in her drawings and collages softens the blow of personal truth and pain present in her work. She aims to glorify unapologetic expressions of grief, anger, sexuality, and shameless validation seeking. She has been making and exhibiting her iPhone collages IRL from her instagram @uncannysfvalley for the past 5 years. Kauffmann is a current MFA candidate at the University of Southern California.
