Summer of Our Discontent
We arrive in Summer. Our sweat falls like tears and drops of rain, not fog coming in on cats feet, not tears. We don’t cry, we smolder. We shelter with the mychtrophics. Beside and underneath the ghost plants, we wait. Help is near we are sure. The silence is deafening. … (read more)
We arrive in Summer. Our sweat falls like tears and drops of rain, not fog coming in on cats feet, not tears. We don’t cry, we smolder. We shelter with the mychtrophics. Beside and underneath the ghost plants, we wait. Help is near we are sure. The silence is deafening. We aren’t afraid in the ghost plants in the forest in the Redwoods, in the summer of our discontented ghosts.

The red background texture mixed with the film grain is simply fantastic! And I am a huge sucker for a good light leak. Overall I must saw this aesthetic is totally something I vibe with. I love the red through-line with all your pieces for this series. They all feel very connected, but also like strong isolated pieces. Really looking forward to seeing all 7 of them together!
I love the perspective of the woman who seems to be far away from the flower in the distance and maybe disturbed by something. She is not seeing the true beauty that is just ahead. The viewpoint makes me feel like I'm a little bee buzzing around a beautiful flower basking in the glowing summer sunlight that is shimmering through the leaves of trees above, as the gentle summer breeze blows.. That little bee is total content happy going about it's business, unaware of human issues and the woman in the distance in the summer of her discontent. Love it!

The red and the pulses of light and movement transfer me to that lonely and hot summer moment in which silence would allow you to hear the beating of your own heart, I love it Ruth !!

I love that little woman who repeats herself every week traveling different landscapes. How many times we feel this way, small, humble and helpless among the fear of being phagocytosed by the landscape that surrounds us or passing unscathed to move forward. That small woman who seems vulnerable has the strength of a survivor. I keep watching the development of your story every week. Thank you for creating it. I feel part of it.
Awesome .. I love the glow that comes and goes.. it reminds me of summer of warm sunshine and blinding sun that makes you want to sit under a shady tree and do nothing ..just sit there and watch the flowers and the insects or sometimes the fluffy clouds ..and this works so beautifully with the Redwood piece.. perfect flow of ideas👏👏❤
