This is a submission for True-to-size disguise.
Emotional masks - the emotions that are portrayed that are contradictory to the feelings and thoughts that happen inside. That happy face we put on even though we feel differently, that stoic expression that hides storms raging inside. For some, this is a lifelong exercise and for some it is sudden and for both it is a struggle to keep up the mask .

Beautifully painted Indrani. The design and colours and then the black etching-like marks are wonderful.

I think pretending to be something other than we are, ultimately leads to the deepest form of stress (and dis-ease) within our being. But we have to discover and connect to that true being, and then believe that she/he is who we truly are before the fear of rejection can lose its grip. And with a sense of knowing 'we are a beautiful being', regardless of our physicality, we can easily let go of the mask. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

Thank you Allison.
The show of emotion or contradiction in opinion sometimes creates waves and I think that is what leads to masking of emotions. We are sometimes conditioned in certain roles to behave in certain ways and there are positive and negative sides..:)

Yes. We play so many roles: Within our family situations, within friendships, within communities and work situations. We are conditioned in just about everything we do: To be as others would want us to be, or how we think they want us to be.

Ironically if we can come closer to who we are, the being essence, we have always been will shine and we won't have to be so concerned about what others think/feel ~ As truth shines a light, it may ruffle a few feathers but never really offend.

I'm so happy to be a proud owner of one of your 5 editions now Indrani. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎

This is really fine and in-depth art you are communicating here. Love the faces and the masked feelings being exposed. I also appreciate the slightly rough style of the art.

In how many instances of our life we have no choice but to wear masks of happiness even though we are invaded by sadness. How much it weighs us to be strong when inwardly fragility moves us and because of our children or because of fear or accustoming we continue forward although the cost is so great that it ends up making us physically and spiritually ill. And how many times we break and the mask remains attached. It is difficult to live and the younger you are the more the pressures and demands of your surroundings ... A beautiful work that perfectly represents your words and that leads us to hindsight.

This reminds me of a favourite line in a movie, Happy, smile. Sad, frown. Use the coordinating expressions to match the mood! I can’t say no when I really mean yes! Always struck a chord with me. 😊😿

Yes Ruth!.. and those little matching games - when we are young sometimes we say yes when we actually mean no - maturity brings the strength.. :)
