The artwork is inspired by the cult of the dead, present in Mexican culture. All my life I have been surrounded by imagery concerning death. In every street market throughout the country it is common to find skull-shaped crafts in all kinds of patterns, colors and materials. It is an inheritance of pre-Columbian cultures reinterpreted for generations. The display of creativity in these designs is huge, and the styles found are very diverse. I find it interesting the way craft masters use a wide range of vibrant colors to decorate the death in contrast with the way other cultures depict death as something dark and negative. This piece is my contribution and interpretation of Mexican skull crafts from the domain of glitch art and painting.
