In the Krittivasi Ramayan, Mahiravan or Ahiravan, was a rakshasa and also the king of Patal Lok. He was a brother of the Rakshasa King Ravana. He secretly carried away Lord Rama and his brother Lord Lakshmana to the nether-world, consulted his friends and decided to sacrifice the life of the two divine brothers at the altar of his chosen deity, goddess Mahamaya. However, Lord Hanuman saved their life by decapitating Mahiravan and destroying his army. He told Lord Hanuman he will be taking his another birth in protecting [Ravana]. So he was Viduratha in Dvapara Yuga.
