JJ Jordan is a London based graphic designer and photographer passionate about portrait photography, at the same time a great fan of the Dutch Golden Age painters such as Hals, Vermeer, and Rembrandt. Their works inspired him to recreate the same mood and painterly feel in a series of studio portraits. Although the inspiration goes back to the 17th century the series has a definite modern twist. The outfit comes from the Henrica Langh's collection 'Agliophobia'. The collection consists of two layers. The first layer comprises corsets inspired by both the physical side and the psychological side of the human body. While visually representing the bones and muscles underneath our skin, metaphorically the corsets symbolize our most intimate thoughts and feelings. The second layer symbolizes the armor that covers our fragile bodies. It is a metaphor of all the things we use to hide and protect ourselves with. These garments can protect, distract, show true feelings, or lie.
