This is not a drawing nor an illustration. This is reality transmuted after going through my magic mirror. Originally, it was photos from my first trip to India (of a tree and of some people, now completely unrecognizable).

More than an artist I feel like a digital shaman summoning spirits of the collective unconscious from reality as we see it, without any hand drawing involved. I have done it for more than a decade and this new piece represents a further evolution of my "transmutations" technique.

Here I did something new. I picked what was a small detail of the image I was working on which was extremely glitchy and pixelated, like a bad low-res image. I managed to turn it into a smooth high-res image after a long work of reconstruction (aided by AI in minor part) and editing, in which I aimed to preserve the essence of what emerged from the blending and mirroring of photos.

I shared on Cent (@barabeke) more insights on how I created this, including the source images.

In this video you can explore its mysterious details, which I chased more than created... https://youtu.be/fGx8IdVZMUc
