I Am A Tree, I Show My Age When I Don’t Cry.
We began with a map in hand and a plan, then we lost ourselves in the height and breadths of the redwoods. We summered, we fell, and we wintered. Our old skin supplanted with something else and we stand still like Henry Miller’s hummingbird. We are lost to you, but … (read more)
We began with a map in hand and a plan, then we lost ourselves in the height and breadths of the redwoods. We summered, we fell, and we wintered. Our old skin supplanted with something else and we stand still like Henry Miller’s hummingbird. We are lost to you, but have found ourselves and we are always, always Guided By Voices: I am a tree - I show my age when I don't cry
I have the leaves that will fall off when wind blows by
Don't strip off my bark - I have been stripped of it before
Yesterday's gone and tomorrow has so much more in store
You are a bird - you're taking off in every way
Say the last word until there is nothing more to say
Don't interrupt - you know the squirrels are my friends
Get off my limb - for I will break before I bend
I'm planning to see
I'm planning to feel you all over me
So climb up my trunk and build on your nest
Come and get the sap out of me
I am a tree!

Such an amazing journey you have taken us all on Ruth over the last 7 weeks ~ And to see every nuance of your ideas about our beautiful forests and how we need to respect them as living beings, coming together into one piece ~ Is nothing short of a brilliant and humanized achievement.
I love it .. wonderful piece of writing Ruth. I adore it. I can's decide which one I like more , the writing or the video. It ties the whole series together very well.
What a wonderful ending to your wonderful series Ruth. It evokes so many feelings, that when combined, leave a very bittersweet to pine over. There is a lot of chaos in this piece, but it grounded and held together by this central figure, acting almost as a lighthouse on a stormy night. Amazing job. It's a tour de force of color, texture, abstraction, and movement. Keeps me watching over and over trying to collect everything I might have missed. Amazing!
The questions that came to my mind with this video were: What is the soul of a tree? What is soul of the forest? What is the soul of the bark? What is the soul of a leaf? What is the one soul of which all souls are a part?
Very nice... love the lost person walking forward. Always discover something new, when i watch it

What a beautiful creation that summarizes in a common thread all the way traveled in these 7 weeks. That surviving woman who went through all the landscapes and cradled hopes, desires, with her scars but with her love, that woman's love, a generator of life, strong and noble like a tree. Thank you for making me share the wonder of each one of your creations as an admirer and spectator. A beautiful ending
