When I take a photograph, my eyes are not seeking to tell a story with the photograph itself. I choose my shots based on what they will become later. I blend and layer, using my sense of metaphysical taste to extract the tastiest portions of the base images. I paint using a combination of photomanipulation and brushwork. Typically, I will begin with anywhere from six to ten different photographs, paying attention to things like the hidden and dynamic curvature of molten steel dropped from a height and forming a hand-like shape - or the saturation and coloration of a micrometeorite photograph informing my palette as I stack layers of brushwork overtop. "Those Weren't Skittles" is representative of making mistakes. We all do! Sometimes, the candy isn't candy
