The Milky Greenstar redefined our beliefs regarding the striatae order and crispisulcans as a whole at the time of its discovery. They stand as the first documented species of this physiology which does not appear confined by a sphere- an insightful clue when considering where they are typically found. The new family that this finding prescribed the creation of, platonium, describes organisms of the same build and banding that we know to be customary of a sizeable range of species identified under the crispisulcans/striatae taxonomic designations but buck their spherical archetype in favor of a variety of platonic primitives.

Inferences may be able to be drawn between the lower EC depths at which they are typically located, the unusual shape they hold compared to their relatives at higher depths, and the affect that these shapes appear to have on the striations marking their bodies. Before the advent of the Icosans albas discovery, it was common belief that these striations were actually various layers of the organism; the running theory being that their undulation revealed a cross-section of a circulatory or nervous system...
The folly in seeking parallels between life familiar to us and that which is so alien.
