I captured 'Elemental' while harnessed and hanging out of a R44 Helicopter, the pilot took the doors off so I could get a birds eye vantage, which when I think about it, it's something thousands of years of humanity have never have gotten to experience - how lucky are we to be living in 2021?
Speaking of technological advancements, I think drones are great, but nothing quite compares to the experience of 'being there' and feeling the blades whirring above your head, the salt spray whispering into the cockpit and the thrill of composing an image from great heights!

One does not accidentally make an image like this. It takes years of travelling, of searching, of carrying bulky bags of camera equipment on and off planes, boats and helicopters, years of swimming with my camera in a waterproof housing - to seek out these moments of ephemerality.

I sometimes spend years chasing one second.

The illusion of movement is created by painstakingly overlaying the original images, one frame over the next, and playing them as a continuous slow-motion animation.

The mesmerizing moving images detail the ocean’s myriad of colours and textures, as well as its immense power.
