Glitched: “Portrait of a Man” (ca. 1630-35) by Velázquez.

The original painting was done by Spanish artist Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez, sometimes referred to simply by the mononym Velázquez, around 1630–35. It is an oil on canvas measuring 27 x 21 3/4 in. (68.6 x 55.2 cm), and resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.

In the past, artists studied the work of Masters and tried to copy their techniques. I greatly admire the Masters, but rather than copy their work I manipulate a digital version of it, attempting to produce new and interesting works.

I’ve become reluctant to categorize my own work, but I welcome your thoughts.
