Hummingdrace are tiny dragon creatures inspired by hummingbirds.
I started this painting by filling it with a few vibrant colors. I used a travelers water-brush, the plastic one that you fill with water and squeeze the amount you want. I really love the brush as it's convenient and I can water down the paper on the go to achieve specific effects. Before inking I did a very quick tiny thumbnail sketch. Then I sketched softly with pencils the final art. I chose to draw 4 open roses because it's my lucky number. I also added 3 closed ones to make a total of 7 roses, the universal lucky number. I used a 0.4 thick felt pen for the best balance of details and shading. The leaves are intentionally very thin and barely noticeable, making the drawing feel more full without being distracting. I finished at artwork by scanning it and digitally animating the colors a bit, for a more magical effect.
