"Twilight" because of the colors; "Chant" because of the parted lips. Its power is not in the title, but in the idea. And the idea was a hard-won victory after many hours over many days of struggle as I drew, warped, colorized and reimagined the character over so many iterations that I lost track. In this work, as is the case in many others that have bedeviled me, I go through a process of discovery by using something rather like the scientific process. I study the image's current state, hypothesize a route to improvement, test the hypothesis and repeat.

Eventually, it became obvious to me that a merely static image would be the easy way to a finished work. So I hypothesized that adding glitchy effects would move the character not just in space, but also in time, so that this shaman would become the more like a televangelist than rainforest soothsayer. Somewhere around the world, it is probably already being done IRL Watch for it on channel 9-3/4.
