John Van Hamersveld is an iconic American graphic designer and illustrator who crafted award-winning album covers for pop, rock, and psychedelic bands from the 1960’s onward.

Among the 300 albums he designed for Capitol Records are the covers of Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles, Exile on Main Street by the Rolling Stones, and many others for musicians including Kiss, the Grateful Dead, and Blondie.

However, Van Hamersveld is best known for his poster design for the 1966 movie, "The Endless Summer," one of the most popular and recognizable “California” images of all time, and his poster for the 1968 Jimi Hendrix concert at the Shrine Auditorium.

Van Hamersveld continues to create and inspire with several public and private works including murals in San Pedro at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach.
