This piece is an iteration of Joseph's coat of many colors in the Bible, translated visually as a shawl with literal colors of the rainbow by me.
The coat of many colors signified favoritism displayed by Israel to Joseph over his other 11 sons.
The most interesting part of this story is that it is actually made up to teach people about life, so it preached against favoritism. People in society are advised that this kind of favoritism often leads to driving the family apart; it is still widely practiced. This is not limited to places of work, organizations, and even the art community.
My piece is not to raise awareness or to cause a political discussion on who is gaining more than they should in the society, instead to paint my experiences from being pushed to the sidelines as a colorful one because, at the end of the day, it is what made me stronger and proud of all that I achieved on my own.
