Naming is seeing.
The derivative artwork places pieces of a painting of the past in a contemporary context of issues of gender representation. Thereby transforming the historical visual layer into a statement that makes visible her, a woman today. The feminitives of different languages on the heroine's body remind us of the linguistic gap, the silence that affects women's lives.
The language now seems natural and firmly entrenched but contributes to the under-representation of women in many fields. This is an underestimation that has been taking shape for millennia.
