Comedian Mike Bobbit, came to me needing an illustration for posters for his comedy/burlesque show. The show being a mix of comedy, and off the wall risque performances, he gave it the weirdest running title he could come up with "robot bukakke". He gave me the title and said "can you work with that?". I said "...I'd rather not but I will".
"Robot bukakke" I'm not ever sure what that means. I know what the words mean, I'm an adult. But together, conceptually... what the hell? It's like "potato orgasm" or "car cheese"...it's kind of nonsensical even if you anthropomorphize the behavior of a robot to the degree such an act would happen. Strangely enough the first sketch I came up with, we both liked. It was eye catching, weird, unsettling, and robotic-ly sterile. This here is the final finished illustration without any logos, dates, or other information that took up/blocked parts of the show poster.

The penciling and inking was done by hand, the coloring with photoshop. The original was 11x17 inches. This digital print is 300dpi and 2000x2881 pixels

Additional Details:
  • 2000 x 2881 px, TIFF (16.5 MB)

Thanks and congratulations to @deemacbee for taking ownership of an edition of this piece! One of my strangest, a lot of work went into the inking and the more I look at it, the more the whimsey of it tickles me. ...I should do more with robots.

@jimmy sorry for the delay! Been working on comic book deadlines, and didn't see your offer come though. I am glad you like my work, spent many hours on this one getting the linework right! Your initial offer is less than I am willing to part with an edition of my work for. Like many things, the value of my editions have grown in value over time. I would accept and offer of 150USD ( .094 ETH) for ownership of an edition of this piece. But whatever the case, I am very happy you appreciate my work!
