Artists follow trends. It’s fun and allows for art communities to thrive. For instance, pop culture often establishes trends that inspire artists to create works of art. It could be a new game, character, film, or a viral meme. A plethora of (fan) artworks will fill one's timeline. The problem arises when artists jumping into the bandwagon just do it to chase the trend, like a contemporary "art for art’s sake", that can even cause a burnout. Creatives race to upload their best piece, or be the earliest to participate, and I am guilty of it as an artist. In my experience, the love for what I do fades if my overall intent in following trends is simply to keep up. Guard your passion. You don't have to do what everyone else is doing.
