The Carnival of Venice is one of the most famous in the world, and so are the masks showcasing in it. In 2021 it was cancelled, even if there was a kind of streaming edition (but the real event never took place).
This was quite an incredible decision if we think that the first official document that declares the Carnival of Venice a public holiday is an edict of 1296, when the Senate of the Republic declared a holiday the day before Lent. To my knowledge it was never suspended before (please correct me if I'm wrong).
This photographs I one of those that I took in 2020 (the last edition before the pandemic) and later converted into an animated cinemagraph artwork. This image was part of a larger project which unfortunately was never completed but it may be with the future editions of the Carnival.
This is the first of 5 masks that will be converted into NFT artworks in the next weeks.
All of them will be in a 1of1 edition.

Love it it Tony! It looks so alive and the colours so beautiful. Hope there will be a carnival next year:):)
Thx George! yes... the Venice Carnival is an amazing show that has been going on for hundreds of years. Crazy not to see it this time around. Also I was ready to go there to complete this project... hopefully next year ;)
