In the modern world, does anybody define digital consumerism better than Facebook? In John Carpenter’s 80’s cult classic, They Live, the word CONSUME is meant to invoke the propaganda used by alien invaders to control the human mind, similarly to an unchecked social media platform's algorithm. Zuckerberg is a technocrat whose Facebook platform is notorious for spreading lies, propaganda and “fake news”. Additionally the Facebook algorithm has made this technical grifter wealthy beyond belief by selling our data, while evoking the worst fears, hatred and behavior in the human race. This piece is inspired by Zuckerberg's congressional testimony utilizing the facebook colors of white and blue in a WW2 propaganda art/memetic style layout.
