This image was done for Patreon subscribers in 2018. The image was painted in one layer using mostly the generic round brush that comes with Photoshop. I was trying to recreate some aspect of working traditionally in digital form. There is a different mindset when working when there are consequences to poor thinking. But it's digital, the sharks are fake-no real danger.

The perspective is technically interesting. The right and left vanishing points are extremely far from the center of vision, making the convergences almost parallel. This would make it an isometric image, but most isometrics look down at 45 degrees and are done for spatial clarity. Here we are close to eye level, and the overall effect is a VERY long lens. A bizarre Greek funeral seen through binoculars.

The composition is unremarkable, I don't believe that composition really exists anyway. So there.

The values are fairly open with the color very restrained to keep the blue of the extreme distance popping. Most of the time you see the most saturated colors coming forward, but here the most saturated is the most distant. I love breaking dumb rules like this.

As far as historical accuracy, it is entirely made up. It does follow what I could find easily on what might go on in such a situation, but no one really knows.

I love to see this. A has taken many of his courses over the years and what better way to do NFTs - to be collected by another digital art legend.

Age of empires… the one and only absolutely no:1 game in my opinion, wish I had the funds to outbid every one on this iconic piece 🤩
