The Joshua Tree, an iconic tree, symbol of U2.
The tree photographed for the sleeve of this mythic album fell around 2000, yet the site remains a popular tourist attraction for U2 fans. One person inserted a plaque into the ground reading, "Have you found what you're looking for?", in reference to the album's track "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". It is a common misconception that the site is within Joshua Tree National Park, when in fact it is over 200 miles away from the park.
The Joshua tree used throughout the album artwork was located in the Mojave Desert near Darwin, California.
