“Safeco Stadium (now T-Mobile Park) is a terrible stadium to work in due to the lack of natural light because of its dome. But you can go overhead, as they have catwalks everywhere, which allows you to position yourself in some interesting spots for unexpected compositions. I found this particular spot where I got the foul lines going out to each corner of the frame, and I made this picture. However, Griffey never liked this photograph because he’s making bad contact with the ball. This is often a case when shooting athletes—they only look at their form or performance rather than the strength of the picture. Often, it’s the small imperfections that make a picture interesting and keep your eye engaged.”

#24ever. Love this piece. Isn't this from the Kingdome though? Either way, epic capture! Ken Griffey Jr still the best ever.
Safeco Field opened in 1999, so this is definitely from the Kingdome, which indeed had terrible light.
