This is part of my ever growing series of abstracted and representational portraits.
My mom passed away on December 26th. We were not close, and we hadn't spoken in over a year. It left me in a strange place, partially a relief, because I didn't have to dread our conversations any longer, and partially just a complicated grief. It's a different process every time, grief, this one was mostly peaceful because I felt everything that needed to be said between us had been, but at the same time, it was unexpected and shook my daily life. Sending me into a bit of tale spin.
We don't get to say much about how people leave us do we? It's never the right time or the right way. So this is my commentary on that.
